Terry Cooper started Taekwondo at five years of age and currently has over 21 years of experience in the martial-art. After achieving his black belt at 12 years of age, Terry competed at the highest level in both the Olympic and technical aspects of the martial art. From 2006 – 2009 Terry remained undefeated in all competitions and was reigning British Student Champion from 2006 – 2009. Terry medalled in the British National Championships every year from 2009-2012 and has obtained international medals in Turkey, Holland, Belgium, France, USA and Korea. Although he now focuses his attention on the development of his students, Terry is still a regular competitor in sparring competitions throughout the UK.
Georgina Ingram transitioned from ITF style Taekwondo in 2015. Since working with Aquila she has gone on to achieve her 2nd Dan in WTF style Taekwondo and 2nd place at the British Student Nationals.
Georgina currently acts as President of the Goldsmiths University Taekwondo Club which is also managed by Aquila. Under her leadership the club won “Best Team” at the Goldsmiths Athletic Union Awards in 2016
Kuzey Akses has been training in Taekwondo since the age of 7. After many years of hard work and dedication; in 2002 he achieved his lifetime ambition of becoming British National Champion and later went on to represent Great Britain at various international competitions around the world. Although Kuzey excelled in Sport Taekwondo he continued to improve his traditional Taekwondo skills and in 2012, he became an official master of Taekwondo by promoting to 4th Dan Black Belt. Kuzey is an experienced instructor with over 10 years teaching experience under his belt and alongside teaching at Aquila, Kuzey is still competing in Olympic style Taekwondo competitions and is working towards his 5th Dan Black Belt.
Dwayne Battles started training in New York City where he obtained his red belt (2nd kup). After moving to London and starting a family, he resumed his training in Taekwondo at Aquila and attended our first ever lesson in 2013. Since then Dwayne has obtained his 2nd Dan Black belt and become one of our senior instructors.Dwayne utilises the lessons he has learned from serving in the US military as well as other martial arts; such as Ninjutsu.
