3.5th Kup grading syllabus (Blue Belt – Red Tag)

Basics
Techniques specified on any previous syllabus
Wedging Block (Front Stance)
Reverse Crescent Kick (fighting stance)
Jumping turning kick (fighting stance)
Double turning kick (same leg) low and high (fighting stance)
Double Side kick (same leg) low and high (fighting stance)
Outer knife hand block (back stance) step forward mid section punch (walking stance) elbow thrust (back stance)
Downward pressing block (walking stance) reverse punch
Front kick, reverse palm heal strike (front stance)
Front kick, low block, reverse inner block (front stance)
Side kick, reverse elbow strike into open hand (long stance)
Outer knife hand block, step forward inner elbow strike

One Step Sparring
(i) Outer knife hand block to inside (back stance), step round and punch to the body and head (Horse-riding stance)
(ii) Outer knife hand block to inside (fighting stance), front kick to groin, turning kick to head
(iii) Outer knife hand block to inside (fighting stance), wrist lock to lower attackers body and front kick to the head

Destruction
Back kick
Reverse Inner knife hand strike

Sparring
Free sparring in full armour (Semi contact to body, some kicks targeted towards the head) x3 rounds in a row

Self Defence
Any attack from the front
Head-lock
Single collar grab (from behind)
Bearhug

Fitness
x20 press-ups
1 minute plank
x30 sit up’s

What does Pattern #5 represent?
Explain all 5 tenets of Taekwondo and give examples of when you have used each one during your training
Back kick in Korean?
What is the process if your set techniques for self-defence are not releasing you from a grab?
